This week in MMA

Henderson wins the UFC LW title by a unanimous decision, in a fight that was much closer than the scoreboard showed. (@clean_dean managed to get a pic of it) At first, I was outraged, screaming profanities and questioning what drugs the judges were/are taking. In my opinion, in order for someone to take a championship belt, they must decisively win that fight, showcasing dominance and leaving no question as to the winner. All biases aside, Henderson is a huge LW and will be tough to take the throne away from. It's been all but confirmed that WEC arch-nemesis UFC 144 leg-kick KO winner Anthony Pettis is to get the next title shot, which should be a slugfest, as Henderson will look to avenge arguably his most deflating loss in his career. Aside from the title fight, Rampage showed he has no business fighting anymore, showing up overweight and then making zero effort to "show my Japanese fans a great fight." For me, the best fight of the night was Tim Boetsh vs Yushin Okami. Okami dominated the first two rounds, and Boetsch's corner knew it. Instead of the usual "pick your spots" bullshit that most corners tell their fighters, his corner told him straight up that he needed to finish Okami. Then what happened? This happened:

An unbelievable comeback KO that @joe_rogan claimed was "the best comeback in the history of the UFC", which then he took back before the next fighters could even make their way into the octagon. It was a great comeback win, but not the best ever. Speaking of best ever comeback wins, NickTheFace (youtube.com/nicktheface2) released his newest UFC promo for Silva vs Sonnen II today, and it's fucking amazing. This guy's videos just keep getting better and better:

The fight is expected to take place June 16th for UFC 147 in Brazil, with co-headliners Wanderlei Silva vs Vitor Belfort, two former Brazilian Pride legends. Also added to the UFC 147 card are the TUF: Brazil Featherweight and Middleweight finales. There are also rumors that the TUF: Brazil season will air on Fuel TV, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

THE FRONTPAGE VERDICT: Overall, UFC 144 was one of the more decent cards as of late. Although the title fight was controversial, it was still a great fight, and the card was stacked with knockouts. I can see the UFC going back to Japan sooner than later, just because of how smoothly things went and how much the fans appreciate fighters. Next up is UFC on FX featuring the first ever UFC Flyweight (125 pounds) fights.
