Jon Bones Jones Posts Instagram video of Eye Cut; Nearly Every MMA Media Outlet Reports the Wrong Eye

Yesterday, Jon Jones posted a video on Instagram showing a rather large gash above his eye in what appears to be a doctor's office, with a doctor stitching him up. The video caused a lot of commotion in social media, primarily because of the proximity of this injury to his fight with Daniel Cormier. Anti-Jones fans (which there seems to be a lot of) are saying Jones is "ducking" his fight with DC and "I knew he would pull out" etc, etc. Jones goes on to claim that the stitches will be out within a few days and there will be no lasting effects of it for his fight with DC.

After I watched the video for the first time, I noticed immediately that something was off. After I watched it again, I realized that the video was in fact flipped horizontally (look at the certificates on the wall), a flaw of recording oneself with the front camera on smartphones today. Surely, the mainstream MMA media outlets would realize this, right? Wrong.

MiddleEasy, MMAFighting, MMAJunkie, BleacherReport; they all reported Jones' left eye as being cut, not his right. I got a pretty good laugh out of the fact that they all didn't realize this, and decided to inform them of what was up. The only author to actually change their article was Mike Bohn at MMAJunkie, so kudos to him.
